Rural Infrastructure Development & Upgradation
Our Comprehensive Rural Development initiative is built on understanding and empathy. Not the sort that ends up offering charity, but the sort that wades into the thick of things, understands the root of the problem, arrives at a viable solution in consultation with the local community, and involves them in implementing it; so that the change sought is permanent; not implemented from above, but effected from within. We believe, using our process, success is assured because this entails involving communities in solving their own problems, giving them a vital sense of ownership and pride. And it’s the only way, we’ve learnt, to build not just a developed community, but a contented one. Towards that end, the Jaiprakash Seva Sansthan has worked for over two decades, always with and through formal and informal local bodies, to implement hundreds of projects, both big and small. From critical projects that improve local infrastructure like roads and bridges, irrigation canals and drainage systems, schools and hospitals; from building giant water reservoirs that provide water to entire districts to small projects that quench the thirst of just one village; from projects that help fulfill a community’s material needs to those that provide spiritual and emotional succor – renovating places of worship, upgrading panchayat ghars and community meeting places – we have helped create contented communities across the country. And that’s our way to help build a stronger India.
